Introduction to Korea’s Han River Culture
The Han River that flows through Seoul is loved by both Koreans and travelers as a space for rest and culture. Among them, Nodeul Island is called the closest art island in the city, located under Hangang Bridge. It has become a pause in everyday life for many people. As a cultural complex where music, art, food, and nature harmonize, this place provides new inspiration with just a short visit.

History and Background of Nodeul Island
The name Nodeul comes from ‘Nodol,’ meaning “a stone where egrets played.” From the 1930s to 1950s, it was loved as a sandy beach and skating rink in the center of the Han River. However, after several development plans failed in the 1960s and 70s, it became a forgotten island. In 2012, efforts began to restore it as a cultural resting space for citizens, and in September 2019, it was reborn as a ‘cultural and artistic complex base.’
