Lucinate Cosmetic Dentistry

Lucinate is one of the representative cosmetic dental treatments at Lucid Dental Clinic. After preparing the tooth surface only within the necessary range, customized ceramic restorations are bonded to the teeth to improve the aesthetic appearance of tooth shape, color, and alignment within a relatively short period.
Unlike teeth whitening, which primarily changes tooth color, Lucinate can also address the size and shape of the front teeth, the proportions between teeth, and their visible alignment.
In cosmetic dentistry, the goal is not simply to make the teeth as white or large as possible. The design should harmonize with the patient’s natural teeth, facial features, lips, and gum line. The desired tooth shape and shade are discussed while the existing alignment, bite, cavities, and gum condition are also evaluated to determine the appropriate treatment range.
• Cosmetic treatment for the front teeth
• Improvement of tooth color and shape
• Consideration of tooth length and width
• Tooth alignment and smile-line design
• Harmony with the patient’s natural teeth
• Customized ceramic restorations
• One-Day Lucinate available
Lucinate With Minimal Tooth Preparation of 0.01 mm to 0.2 mm
One of the most common concerns among patients considering cosmetic restorations is how much of their natural tooth structure needs to be removed.
Lucinate does not require the same amount of tooth preparation for every patient. Depending on the current tooth position, degree of protrusion, size, alignment, color, and desired change, the required preparation range is determined within approximately 0.01 mm to 0.2 mm.
The amount of preparation may differ between a patient whose teeth are already relatively well aligned and who wants only a small aesthetic change and a patient who needs a larger change in protrusion or tooth shape.
The goal is to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible while planning the final restoration so that the ceramic does not appear excessively thick.
• Priority given to preserving natural teeth
• Tooth surface prepared only within the necessary range
• Tooth alignment and degree of protrusion evaluated
• Tooth shade and size considered
• Ceramic thickness and final shape planned together
• Treatment range determined according to individual tooth condition
One-Day Lucinate
ONE-DAY LUCINATE may be particularly useful for international patients with limited time in Korea.
For suitable patients, the examination, evaluation of tooth condition, aesthetic design, prosthetic fabrication, and final bonding process can be coordinated through a digital system to complete cosmetic dental treatment within a relatively short schedule.
A key reason Lucid Dental Clinic can provide One-Day Lucinate is its combination of specialized in-house personnel, advanced dental laboratory equipment, and an organized clinical system.
A dental laboratory director specializing in Lucinate works in-house, and advanced laboratory equipment is available at the clinic. This allows the process from restoration design to fabrication to be performed quickly and precisely.
Because the restorations do not need to be transported to and from an outside laboratory, waiting time can be reduced. When necessary, the dentists and laboratory director can communicate immediately and adjust the restoration during the fabrication process.
Experienced dental hygienists with extensive backgrounds in cosmetic prosthodontics also participate in treatment. All consultation managers hold dental hygienist qualifications.
Based on structured training and extensive clinical experience, they understand the patient’s dental condition and treatment process and provide systematic support from the initial consultation through treatment and follow-up care.
One-Day treatment is not simply about fabricating a restoration quickly. Examination, treatment planning, tooth preparation, digital scanning, prosthetic design and fabrication, and final bonding must all take place accurately within a coordinated schedule.
This requires close communication among dentists, dental hygienists, the dental laboratory director, and consultation staff, as well as a carefully organized treatment protocol.
Based on its professional staff, in-house laboratory system, and coordinated workflow, Lucid Dental Clinic is one of the dental clinics in the Gangnam area actively providing One-Day Lucinate treatment and can help international patients plan cosmetic dentistry around a limited stay in Korea.
However, One-Day treatment does not mean that every patient can complete the entire treatment in a single day.
If cavities or gum disease need to be treated first, existing restorations must be replaced, or additional adjustments to tooth alignment or occlusion are necessary, the treatment schedule may need to be extended.
International patients can help with treatment planning by providing their arrival and departure dates, the number of teeth they want treated, and their current dental concerns in advance.

Natural-Looking Lucinate Design
The goal of cosmetic dentistry is not simply to make the teeth whiter.
The length and width of the front teeth, symmetry between the left and right sides, shape of the incisal edges, relationship between the lips and gums, and the overall smile line should work together to create a natural appearance.
When several front teeth are treated at the same time, the overall dental alignment and facial harmony should be considered rather than evaluating each tooth separately.
Lucinate allows the shade and shape of the ceramic restorations to be selected to complement the existing natural teeth while also reflecting the patient’s desired aesthetic changes.
• Tooth length-to-width proportions considered
• Balance between the left and right front teeth evaluated
• Relationship between lips and teeth considered
• Smile-line design
• Tooth shade and brightness can be selected according to personal preference
• High-quality translucent ceramic used for a natural-looking appearance
Digital Lucinate Fabrication Process
Lucinate treatment involves more than simply bonding a prefabricated piece of ceramic onto a tooth.
The process begins by evaluating the current oral condition and tooth shape and planning the size and form of the teeth to be treated. Ceramic restorations are then fabricated based on digital data.
The restoration is applied to the actual tooth so that the shape, color, contact with adjacent teeth, and occlusion can be checked.
After any necessary adjustments, the restoration is permanently bonded to the tooth.
By connecting oral scanning, design, and fabrication through a digital system, faster cosmetic treatments such as One-Day Lucinate can be provided.
• Oral condition assessment
• Digital scanning
• Aesthetic design
• Ceramic restoration fabrication
• Fit checked on the actual tooth
• Harmony with neighboring teeth evaluated
• Occlusion checked
• Final bonding
CEREC-Based Cosmetic Prosthetic Fabrication

Lucid Dental Clinic uses a CEREC-based digital system for Lucinate and cosmetic prosthetic fabrication.
CEREC is a CAD/CAM system that processes digitally designed restorations from ceramic materials. The workflow connects oral scanning, design, and actual restoration fabrication.
After the CEREC process, an in-house professional dental technician manually reviews the design result once again before completion.
One-Day cosmetic dentistry cannot be achieved simply by shortening chair time. The patient’s oral data must be recorded, the restoration designed, the ceramic processed, and the completed restoration adjusted after being placed on the actual tooth.
This specialized digital fabrication environment is used for Lucinate treatment.
• CEREC-based digital fabrication
• CAD/CAM technology
• Ceramic restoration processing
• Digital oral data
• Connection between digital design and physical restoration fabrication
• Support for One-Day cosmetic dentistry
Lucinate Orthodontic-Style Cosmetic Treatment
Lucinate orthodontic-style treatment is a cosmetic prosthetic approach and differs from conventional orthodontics, which physically moves the teeth over a long period.
The outer surface of the tooth is prepared only within the necessary range, and ceramic restorations are bonded so the teeth appear more even in shape and alignment. Depending on the case, crown treatment may also be used when necessary.
For some patients with Class III malocclusion, combined orthognathic surgery and conventional orthodontics may require more than three years of treatment. There have also been cases in which the visible appearance of the teeth was cosmetically improved using Lucinate.
Conventional orthodontic treatment may require extraction of two to four premolars to create sufficient space. In some cases, up to eight teeth may be extracted when wisdom teeth are included.
Root shortening may also occur during the process of physically moving the teeth.
Lucinate treatment, in contrast, is planned with an emphasis on preserving natural teeth as much as possible and aims to minimize unnecessary extraction when extraction is required.
• Cosmetic improvement of tooth shape and visible alignment
• Ceramic restorations used, with crowns added when necessary
• Shorter treatment schedule
• Priority given to natural-tooth preservation and minimizing unnecessary extraction
• Cosmetic improvement may be possible for selected Class III cases depending on oral condition
• Cosmetic prosthetic approach that improves appearance without physically moving the teeth
• Appropriate treatment determined according to occlusion and skeletal condition
One-Day Implant Placement

Lucid Dental Clinic provides same-day implant placement.
In conventional implant treatment, it may be necessary to wait for the gums and alveolar bone to heal after extraction before placing an implant.
However, patients with suitable oral conditions may be able to undergo tooth extraction and implant placement on the same day.
Bone grafting may also be performed when necessary to reinforce the alveolar bone needed for implant placement.
The actual surgical method and whether same-day placement is possible depend on the condition of the gums and alveolar bone.
The key to a One-Day implant is not to apply rapid treatment to every patient. The amount and condition of the alveolar bone, gum condition, inflammation around the extraction site, and the possibility of obtaining sufficient initial implant stability must first be evaluated.
Even when the implant itself is placed on the same day, the entire treatment process through the final prosthesis is not necessarily completed in one day.
The implant needs time to integrate stably with the jawbone, and additional visits may be required for the final prosthetic restoration.
• Tooth extraction and implant placement may be performed on the same day
• Available for suitable patients
• Alveolar bone and gum condition evaluated
• Inflammation checked
• Initial implant stability evaluated
• Healing period required after placement
• Additional visits may be required for the final restoration
• For front teeth, selected cases may also allow immediate temporary tooth fabrication depending on bone condition
When One-Day Implants May Be Suitable
Eligibility for One-Day implant placement depends on each patient’s oral condition.
If sufficient bone volume and stable gums are present and adequate initial implant stability can be achieved, it may be possible to reduce the number of treatment stages.
In contrast, when there is significant inflammation at the extraction site, insufficient alveolar bone, or a need for extensive bone grafting, a staged treatment approach with an adequate healing period may be more appropriate.
General health and medications may also affect implant planning.
• Alveolar bone volume and density evaluated
• Gum condition checked
• Inflammation at the extraction site assessed
• Initial implant stability evaluated
• Extent of required bone grafting considered
• General health and medications considered
Plasma-Activated Implants
Plasma-activated implant treatment involves treating the implant surface with plasma to modify its surface characteristics.
The goal is to increase the hydrophilicity of the implant surface and create an environment in which blood can more readily contact the implant surface.
Osseointegration, in which the implant becomes stably integrated with the surrounding jawbone, is an important part of implant treatment.
Plasma activation is one method designed with this early healing environment in mind.
Actual healing can vary depending on bone quality, gum condition, general health, smoking status, and oral hygiene.
• Plasma treatment of the implant surface
• Designed to improve surface hydrophilicity
• Consideration of blood-to-implant surface contact
• Treatment designed with the early osseointegration environment in mind
• Individual differences depending on bone and gum condition
• Eligibility determined according to oral condition
Conventional Implants and Bone Grafting
Dental implants replace missing teeth by placing an artificial tooth root in the jawbone and connecting a prosthetic restoration above it.
Before treatment, the alveolar bone at the missing-tooth site should be evaluated together with the gums, neighboring teeth, and upper and lower occlusion.
When a tooth has been missing for a long time and the alveolar bone has decreased, or when there is not enough bone to support an implant securely, bone grafting may be required.
Based on CT imaging and an oral examination, the dental team determines whether a conventional implant, One-Day implant, or plasma-activated implant approach is appropriate.
• Conventional implants
• One-Day implants
• Plasma-activated implants
• CT-based treatment planning
• Evaluation of gums and neighboring teeth
• Upper and lower occlusion considered
Crowns and Inlays
When a cavity or damaged area is too extensive for a simple filling to provide sufficient protection, an inlay or crown may be used.
An inlay restores a portion of a damaged tooth with a prosthetic restoration, while a crown covers and protects a larger portion of the tooth.
Lucid Dental Clinic provides zirconia crowns, inlays, and related prosthetic treatments. Digital fabrication and One-Day prosthetic treatment may be applicable to selected cases.
Prosthetic treatment considers the remaining natural tooth structure, chewing forces, occlusion, contact with neighboring teeth, and aesthetic shape.
• Zirconia crowns
• Inlays
• One-Day prosthetic treatment possible when root canal treatment is not required
• Remaining natural tooth structure considered
• Chewing function and occlusion evaluated
• Relationship with neighboring teeth considered
• Both function and aesthetics considered
Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental treatment that brightens tooth color without changing the existing shape of the teeth.
Professional whitening may be considered when teeth have darkened due to coffee, tea, foods, smoking, or natural changes in tooth color.
Teeth whitening and Lucinate have different purposes.
If there is no significant problem with tooth shape or alignment, whitening may be appropriate. For patients who want to change their teeth to a specific shade or who prefer not to undergo repeated whitening sessions, Lucinate may also be discussed.
• Professional teeth whitening
• Improves tooth color while maintaining existing tooth shape
• Tooth sensitivity considered
• Different treatment purpose from Lucinate
• Treatment planned according to oral condition
Invisalign and Conventional Orthodontics
Lucid Dental Clinic provides both conventional orthodontics and Invisalign clear aligner treatment.
Clear aligner treatment physically moves the teeth by replacing a series of transparent aligners according to treatment stages.
When both dental alignment and upper-to-lower occlusion need to be corrected, orthodontic treatment that physically moves the teeth may be more appropriate than cosmetic Lucinate correction.
Depending on the amount of tooth movement required, type of malocclusion, patient age, and expected treatment duration, an appropriate option can be selected between conventional braces and clear aligners.
• Invisalign
• Conventional orthodontics
• Pediatric orthodontics
• Adolescent orthodontics
• Adult orthodontics
• Dental alignment correction
• Occlusal correction
• Treatment through actual tooth movement
Cavity, Root Canal, and Tooth Preservation Treatment
Lucid Dental Clinic provides not only cosmetic dentistry but also cavity treatment, root canal treatment, and treatments focused on preserving natural teeth.
Early cavities are treated by removing damaged areas while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.
When decay has progressed deeply enough to affect the pulp inside the tooth, root canal treatment may be necessary.
If the remaining tooth structure is weakened following root canal treatment, a crown or another restoration may be used to protect the tooth.
Even when a patient initially visits for cosmetic treatment, cavities or problems with existing restorations may need to be treated first.
• Cavity treatment
• Root canal treatment
• Natural-tooth preservation
• Existing restorations evaluated
• Crown treatment when necessary
• Oral health problems treated before cosmetic dentistry when required
Dental Checkups and Scaling
Scaling is a basic dental treatment that removes calculus and plaque around the teeth and gums to help maintain gum health.
When combined with regular dental examinations, it can also help identify cavities, gum problems, and issues involving existing restorations.
Lucid Dental Clinic uses genuine EMS AIRFLOW® equipment manufactured by the Swiss dental medical-device company EMS.
EMS is known for precision dental cleaning technology. AIRFLOW uses fine powder, water, and air to gently remove bacterial biofilm and staining from the tooth surface.
The clinic aims to reduce irritation and discomfort to the teeth and gums compared with conventional scaling, making the procedure more comfortable even for patients who are sensitive to tooth sensitivity.
Patients considering cosmetic treatments such as Lucinate or teeth whitening should first evaluate the current condition of their teeth and gums and determine whether any general dental care is necessary.
• Dental checkups
• Scaling
• Calculus and plaque removal
• Gum condition evaluated
• Cavities checked
• Existing restorations evaluated
• Oral health assessment before cosmetic dentistry
Wisdom Tooth Extraction and Oral Surgery
Wisdom teeth do not always need to be removed if they have erupted normally and do not cause problems with neighboring teeth or gums.
However, extraction may be considered when a wisdom tooth grows at an angle, remains impacted beneath the gums, affects neighboring teeth, or causes recurrent inflammation.
When a lower wisdom tooth is close to a nerve, imaging examinations such as CT can be used to evaluate the relationship between the tooth and surrounding anatomical structures.
The treatment plan is determined according to the direction of the wisdom tooth, degree of impaction, and distance from the nerve.
• Wisdom tooth extraction
• Impacted wisdom teeth
• Evaluation of neighboring teeth and gums
• CT and other imaging examinations
• Oral surgery
• Treatment planning according to extraction difficulty
